It’s important to have consistent at-home oral hygiene care to maintain healthy teeth! Because we eat food everyday, we expose our teeth and gums to bacteria and sugar which cause damage if left uncleaned. Thus, it’s important to clean these areas thoroughly everyday. Here are a couple of key steps you should do everyday to practice good oral care.
- Brush twice a day. Whether you’re using an electric or manual toothbrush, spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth thoroughly each time. It’s especially important to brush ALL parts of the tooth, especially the back teeth because that’s where plaque accumulates the most!
- Floss at least once a day. If you choose to floss, do it at night right before bedtime. This prevents food and bacteria from creating decay on your teeth and inflammation in your gums while you sleep!
- Use an antibacterial mouthrinse like Listerine or Crest Oral B after you brush and floss. This provides an additional clean because the antibacterial liquid oozes into those small crevices you’re not able to reach when you brush or floss.
